Fern Creek Farm is a collaboration between two families; Scott and Rosie Pyle and their 6 children, and Jon and Yvonne Meader and their 3 children.
Scott grew up in Pennsylvania's Amish country where he gained an appreciation for family, work, and entrepreneurship. After high school he served our country in the Air Force. Scott then attended Penn State University obtaining a Molecular Biology degree. He has spent his career in the biotech and pharmaceutical industries wanting to provide products to help people.
Scott and Rosie moved to the Triangle area in 1999. While growing his career and family, Scott continued to get his hands dirty growing vegetables in his "Victory Garden".
Jon Meader also grew up in a farm community and benefited from working in a family farm-based business. After graduating from NC State with a bachelor's degree, Jon went into the construction industry. In 1999 he founded Oakview Homes, Inc, a home building company, and continues to build homes in Granville and Franklin counties.
Over the years Jon and Yvonne have enjoyed hobby farming on their piece of land in Granville County's Brassfield Township. Among other things, they've raised laying hens and broiler chickens for their family.
Two years ago, the Pyles started helping the Meaders process their chickens and turkeys.
Scott and Jon were both looking for business opportunities that the whole family could be involved in. Fern Creek Farm is a result of those early discussions.
Fern Creek Farm has been designed to fit our busy schedules, to build on our skills and resources, and to provide work and learning opportunities for our children while providing affordable, top quality farm products to the Triangle-Area consumer.
It is our intention to add other locally produced products to our catalog as the business grows, making available a wide variety of products to our customers.
